John McArthur
Trading Matters, Australia
John has a strong background in refining and logistics, transitioning to products trading in Singapore for a period of 13 years. He has successfully traded in the international commodity markets for both a multi-national oil company and a more aggressive, entrepreneurial trading company, based in Singapore. In addition, he has established an international bank’s trading and risk management business in Asia-Pacific, building a trading team and managing the banks energy exposure by trading energy derivatives.
More recently John has established a successful consulting business, working with large commercial customers in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, assisting these customers in understanding the pricing principles used in petroleum products in the Asia Pacific region, including the benefits of risk management
Course Methodology
The course will be conducted with practical aspects in a predominantly workshop environment, working in small groups. There will be frequent case studies, to develop an understanding and reinforce the learnings of trading practices and risk management. Realistic oil market prices and live market conditions will be used in case studies.
