Course Objectives
This virtual instructor-led course on Bunker Fuel Blending equips participants with the knowledge and skills to economically and precisely formulate fuel oils that meet ISO 8217 standards. Participants will gain insights into the composition and challenges of VLSFO, including its low viscosity, pollution risks, and impact on engine performance. Covering best practices in fuel sourcing, supply, blending optimization techniques, component pricing, and compliance with international regulations, the course also explores alternative fuels, scrubber technologies, and environmental considerations, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of modern bunker fuel management.
Course Methodology
The course will be taught via a video conferencing platform, covering a combination of theoretical and practical applications. The course instructors will adopt an interactive approach which will encourage active participation, delegate engagement and contribution through live sharing of views and experiences. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises, including real-world blending simulations, fuel property calculations, and case studies, to reinforce key concepts and enhance practical decision-making skills.
What You Will Learn & Receive
- How to make a variety of fuel oils economically, precisely tailored for a specific application, meeting ISO 8217
- How to make real VLSFO, the VLSFO number right now circulating around the world is of very low viscosity and very similar to MGO
- VLSFO pollution and issues to the engine that can cause high risk for ships and workers
- Using best practices and application of US and International standards to improve your ability to source, supply and use the fuels required now and in the medium term.
