Shakeel Ahmad Khan is appointed as Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Chemicals Marketing (Labuan) Limited (PCML) effective 1 August 2020. This role will see him steer the direction of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad’s commercial business in ensuring its long-term sustenance and future growth for maximum value and returns. He will also be taking on the role as CEO of PETRONAS Chemicals Marketing Sdn Bhd.
Shakeel joined PETRONAS Penapisan (Melaka) Sdn Bhd (PP(M)SB), the now Malaysia Refining Company Sdn Bhd (MRCSB) in 1994 as a chemist before venturing into commercial business at the Crude Oil Group five years later. In 2006, he was assigned to Mumbai, India to set up PETRONAS Lubricants (India) Private Limited prior to his return to Malaysia in 2008 where he then held various roles across the Group in marketing & trading, supply operations, and trading risk. After almost two decades in the oil business, Shakeel joined PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) as Head of Ammonia and Fertilizer where he later progressed as Head of Marketing and Sales-Polymer at PCML. In 2014, he led the transformation initiative for polymer business together with LDPE and Polyethylene plants.
Shakeel earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Universiti Sains Malaysia and is an Associate Member of Malaysian Institute of Chemistry.
