Ajay Singh is Managing Executive Officer at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), responsible for the Company’s business in South Asia and the Middle East.
He joined MOL in October 2020 as Executive Advisor and has supported the company’s strategy development and access to new business opportunities, working with MOL senior management in Tokyo. In April 2022, he was appointed Managing Executive Officer of the company.
Ajay Singh came to MOL following a career of over 25 years in the oil & gas industry, during which he delivered new projects and energy supply deals in the LNG, Exploration & Production and Downstream businesses. He has set up international joint ventures, managed senior government relationships, and led major deal negotiations in many countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, West Africa and North America. The Major part of this experience was with Shell during the period 1995-2014, where his accomplishments include helping create the company’s LNG business in India, and its upstream business in Iraq; and thereafter as special advisor to the chairman and president of JAPEX, an international energy company owned substantially by the Government of Japan, from 2014 to 2020.
In addition to his responsibilities at MOL, he develops clean energy resources such as hydrogen through his own venture. His professional interests include the energy transition and the improvement of organisation performance.
Ajay Singh took his B Eng., in Mechanical Engineering at the Walchand College of Engineering, India in 1989; and MBA at Manchester Business School, UK in1994; and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2019.
