Dr. Tomoko Hosoe

Dr. Hosoe is Managing Director of FGE Japan and Member of the Executive Committee of FGE. An energy expert on Japan, Dr. Hosoe is familiar with energy policies, demand, supply, and trade with a special focus on downstream oil and natural gas/LNG. Research focus also includes a comparative analysis of corporate efficiency of national oil companies (NOC) vs. international oil companies (IOC). Dr. Hosoe is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was a Project Specialist at the East-West Center in Hawaii for 2001-2013.
Dr. Hosoe has been involved in numerous projects on Japanese energy issues including; Evolving Market Dynamics in the Asia Pacific: Opportunities for Japanese Oil Refiners; Japan-US Product Trade: Enhancing Global Energy Security; Commercial Overview of the Nishihara Refinery in the Context of Okinawa, Japan, and the Asia Pacific; ASEAN Energy Securities; ASEAN+3 Energy Securities; APEC Energy Securities; Strategic Recommendations for Japan’s LNG Procurement; LNG Market Study for Russian LNG for Japan; and Japan’s gas and power market deregulation.
Dr. Hosoe has published numerous reports related to Japan’s oil and gas industry which have been cited in the Middle East Economic Survey (MEES), Oil and Gas Journal, and other oil/gas publications. Dr. Hosoe has been a contributing author of numerous publications on Japan specific issues. She has a Ph.D. in international relations (management) and an MA in Public Affairs.
