Mr. Phoawanich, who has been appointed to Deputy Governor – Fuel since May 1, 2024, brings over two
decades of expertise in power plant projects. Previously serving as Assistant Governor – Power Plant Engineering and Construction as well as Assistant Governor- Fuel Management, he spearheaded the development of both conventional and renewable power plants, alongside innovative projects such as battery repurposing and hydrogen utilization for power generation.
Currently, he leads the EGAT Hydrogen project team and the EGAT Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project team.His extensive experience and leadership in power plant engineering have been pivotal in the successful completion of numerous projects. Furthermore, he has fostered collaborations between EGAT and esteemed international agencies and corporations.
Recognized for his engineering prowess, Mr. Phoawanich actively participates in various professional committees and advisory boards, including the Thailand Hydrogen Policy Steering Committee, Energy Transition Working Team, and Executive Committee of Hydrogen Thailand. He is also listed in the Director Pool at the State Enterprise Policy Office.
Mr. Phoawanich holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Chulalongkorn University, followed by master’s and doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His expertise extends to international conferences, where he contributes to panel discussions on renewable energy and hydrogen applications.
